Nozomi Networks and Tempered Networks announced Tuesday that the two companies have integrated their products to provide a security offering that focuses on network visibility, threat detection, and remediation in industrial environments.

The Nozomi-Tempered product integration will include the ability of Tempered Airwall platform to mirror secure traffic to Nozomi’s solutions through a fully encrypted overlay for greater analysis and insight, the companies said in a press statement. The joint offering brings together Nozomi’s network visibility, threat detection and incident response system with Tempered’s Zero Trust policy enforcement and centralized software-defined perimeter management console to industrial environments.

Powered by AI, the integrated solution delivers threat visibility, analysis and remediation along with military-grade encryption, policy enforcement and simplified policy management to industrial environments. Using the Airwall platform from Tempered, the offering can protect critical physical infrastructure, while still allowing secure remote access.

With Airwall, Tempered’s enterprise-grade solution uses the standards-based Host Identity Protocol (HIP), including a range of scalable hardware gateways and policy management devices. They form a private overlay network that sits on top of existing cybersecurity and network infrastructure.

Armed with AI-driven insights from Nozomi Networks, Airwall customers can take remediation steps or refine Tempered security policies through the Airwall Conductor management console API. The Nozomi solution and Tempered Networks’ Conductor work in tandem, in industrial environments, to refine Airwall zero trust policies and address identified threats, going beyond the capabilities of traditional network security devices like firewalls or remote access solutions.

With security threats, nowadays, driving requirements for high visibility and intelligent threat detection, the integrated offering features automated remediation that can lock-down vulnerable systems while ensuring continued availability for authorized access and continuity of business, the companies said. The joint offering is currently available with the release of Tempered Networks Airwall 2.2.11.

“The AI-powered network analysis and anomaly detection that they provide can drive more accurate micro-segmentation and security policy enforcement into our Airwall platform, providing a more secure, rapid response approach against industrial-grade network attacks,” said Jeff Hussey, founder and CEO of Tempered Networks.

“Tempered Airwall delivers the military-grade encryption and secure access policy enforcement that many of our joint customers rely upon to quickly remediate anomalies and threats in their networks”, according to Chet Namboodri, Nozomi’s senior vice president of business development and alliances. “The combination of threat visibility and automated enforcement significantly improves security response.”

Commenting on the Nozomi-Tempered offering, Richard Stiennon, an industry analyst with IT-Harest said that a two-way integration of network monitoring of IoT devices and secure, zero-trust, communications is brilliant. “Ensuring that all communications is stealthed and encrypted while preserving visibility into traffic is a winning combination,” he added.

Last week, Nozomi announced the availability of its scalable SaaS platform, Vantage, which accelerates digital transformation for the largest and most complex distributed networks. Using the cloud-based operational technology (OT) and IoT network monitoring and visibility security offering, designed to meet evolving requirements of IoT-enabled infrastructures, the Vantage platform delivers immediate awareness of cyber threats, risks, and anomalies users need to detect and respond quickly to, and ensure cyber resilience.
