Rockwell to acquire AI-powered maintenance management system firm Fiix

Rockwell Industrial automation

Continuing its acquisitions spree this year, Rockwell Automation announced on Tuesday that it has entered into an agreement to acquire Ontario-based Fiix Inc., a privately-held, AI-enabled computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) company. The terms of the transaction were not available, though Fiix will be a part of the industrial automation company’s software and control operating business.[optin-monster-shortcode id=”dv4jqlr9fih8giagcylw”]

Fiix’s AI-enabled CMMS maintains a computer database of information about the organization’s maintenance operations, which helps to streamline maintenance planning and management, and provide equipment failure prediction. It currently has over 2 million assets under management and creates more than 6 million work orders a year.

With the cloud-native CMMS, Fiix helps create workflows for scheduling, organizing and tracking of equipment maintenance, while integrating with business systems and driving data-based decisions.

The addition of Fiix aligns with Rockwell Automation’s software strategy. It further improves Rockwell’s capabilities in its lifecycle services business, which offers a full range of industrial automation services to help customers maximize the value of their production assets, systems, plants and processes. Through a CMMS, businesses can operate more efficiently, reducing waste and energy use while also saving money.

“With the addition of the Fiix platform and expertise, our customers will benefit from a 360-degree view of integrated data across automation, production, and maintenance, helping them to monitor and improve the performance of their assets and optimize how maintenance work is done,” said Tessa Myers, vice president, product management, Software & Control, for Rockwell Automation, in a press statement.

Last month, Rockwell acquired privately-held, Spanish industrial cybersecurity services company Oylo, which offers a broad range of industrial control system (ICS) cybersecurity services, including assessments, turnkey implementations, managed services and incident response.

Rockwell also signed an agreement in January this year to acquire privately-held Avnet Data Security, an Israeli cybersecurity firm delivering a complete set of IT/OT cyber services ranging from assessments, penetration testing, network and security solutions, and training to converged IT/OT managed services.

The Fiix transaction is expected to close by the end of this year, subject to customary approvals and conditions.
