TXOne debuts EdgeIPS Pro-216 cyber defense device to meet needs of SMB manufacturers

OT zero trust cybersecurity company TXOne Networks has released its OT-native EdgeIPS Pro 216 network appliance in a compact form designed to support SMB manufacturers in their cybersecurity journey. EdgeIPS Pro 216 sets a new standard for OT/ICS networking defense, ensuring operational continuity and high scalability for these manufacturers.

The EdgeIPS Pro 216 deploys flexibly in a cabinet or IT rackmount to suit the business scale and security resources, providing extensive hardware architecture that enables SMB businesses to avail the power of flexible deployment and productivity-based workplace cyber defense. The line supports OT protocols including Modbus, Ethernet/IP, CIP, and EDA, allowing OT and IT security system administrators to collaborate. Thereby, allowing for seamless operation with existing network architecture.

“As the leader in OT zero trust cybersecurity, TXOne’s solutions continue to evolve with today’s OT/ICS threat landscape to meet the needs of SMB manufacturers,” Dr. Terence Liu, CEO of TXOne Networks, said in a media statement. “EdgeIPS Pro 216 comes ready to guard your facilities against cyberattacks and prevent disruption of day-to-day shop floor operation.” The latest member of the EdgeIPS Pro family is slated to be publicly available worldwide starting this July.

With the acceleration of digital transformation in high gear across every vertical and fast-reacting, SMB manufacturers are also eager to take advantage of the productivity benefits of secure operational integrity. As the OT/ICS threat landscape transforms rapidly – often in a matter of days – the lack of viable cybersecurity resources is a critical challenge. SMB manufacturers, in particular, must find network security solutions that can offer unprecedented flexibility, including working well within both centralized and distributed environments and being able to handle long-haul operations even in harsh working conditions.

EdgeIPS Pro 216 delivers advanced new capabilities, including flexible installation using dual-type power input support (12V DC in and 12-48V terminal block), accommodating both DIN rail mount and server rack installation. It also offers operational resilience as it is built on rugged hardware designed for harsh environments with a temperature range from -40 °C up to 75 °C. Its certifications are ready for multiple verticals, including power, railway, and maritime sectors. It also comes ready with Gen 3 Hardware Bypass and 8 pairs of 16 ports, capable of providing 1.8 Gbps of threat prevention throughput and 12 Gbps of firewall throughput.

The series also provides long-term defense with its next-generation IPS for OT/ICS, with robust security protection through OT/ICS protocol filtering and streaming-based antivirus. It also reduces security risk with network segmentation and shields vulnerable assets with virtual patching.

EdgeIPS Pro has been designed for use in levels 1-3, both in front of mission-critical assets and at the network edge. Transparent, as well as prepared to sense network traffic and production assets, the EdgeIPS Pro fits right into the network without disrupting operations. It uses TXOne’s core technology for EdgeIPSPro, TXOneOne-Pass DPI for Industry (TXODI), which provides the ability to create and edit allowlists, enabling interoperability between key nodes and deep analysis of L2-L7 network traffic. The device also comes with a high port density and flexible deployment EdgeIPS Pro flexibly switches between ‘Monitor’ and ‘Prevention’ modes.

Additionally, EdgeIPS Pro provides advanced protection against unknown threats with its up-to-date threat information. With the research of the Zero Day Initiative (ZDI) vulnerability reward program, EdgeIPS Pro offers systems exclusive protection from undisclosed and zero-day threats.

In January, TXOne released its Portable Security 3 Pro Edition (TMPS3 Pro), a portable security device designed to scan for and collect asset info on standalone computers, as well as air-gapped systems. TXOne also announced last August that it received an investment of US$12.9 million in its ‘Series A’ financing round, taking the total it has received to $23.7 million in investments since its founding.
