Transportation

Escalating cyber threats and attacks have led to the transportation sector emerging as a critical concern in today’s connected digital age, as the industry lags in its cybersecurity preparedness. Due to the transportation sector’s susceptibility to such threats, it has been slower to adopt robust cybersecurity measures. However, steps are being taken at the federal level to tackle this issue actively by providing cybersecurity guidance, overseeing transportation infrastructure cybersecurity, and allocating funds for new cyber programs and investments.

Transportation organizations are compelled to deal with the unique cybersecurity risks associated with automation, connectivity, and the extended Internet of Things (XIoT). Direct attacks on maritime, ports, airline, and rail sectors, leading to operational downtime, have led to these asset owners and operators adopting a comprehensive approach to cybersecurity. Such initiatives enable the transportation industry to mitigate risks and ensure the resilience of critical infrastructure.
