TÜV SÜD, Lazada Singapore partner to push CSA Cyber Essentials and Trust marks

TÜV SÜD PSB, a testing, inspection, certification, and training company with German roots, entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Lazada Singapore to advocate the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA) Cyber Essentials and Trust marks, as a standard framework for Lazada’s key partners. The partnership will help further strengthen their cybersecurity ecosystem.

Announced Tuesday, the partnership falls in line with the ‘strategic direction’ of Lazada to bolster the cybersecurity maturity of the e-commerce ecosystem. It builds on Lazada’s achievement of the CSA Cyber Trust mark, under the Cyber Essentials and Trust mark certification scheme, part of the SG Cyber Safe program.

Additionally, the Cyber Essentials mark recognizes organizations that have put in place cyber hygiene measures, while the Cyber Trust mark is a mark of distinction to recognise organizations with comprehensive cybersecurity measures and practices.

As an independent certification body, TÜV SÜD will support Lazada in its efforts to raise awareness among its key partners about the importance of implementing cybersecurity practices to achieve the certification.

The Cyber Essentials mark is a cybersecurity certification for organizations that are embarking on their cybersecurity journey. It is targeted at organizations such as small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Some SMEs have limited IT and/or cybersecurity expertise and resources;  the Cyber Essentials mark aims to enable them to prioritize the cybersecurity measures needed to safeguard their systems and operations from common cyber-attacks. The Cyber Essentials mark also serves to recognise the organizations that have put in place good cyber hygiene measures.

The Cyber Trust mark denotes a cybersecurity certification for organizations with more extensive digitized business operations. The mark adopts a risk-based approach to guide organizations to understand their risk profiles and identify relevant cybersecurity preparedness areas required to mitigate these risks. It also serves as a mark of distinction for organizations to prove that they have put in place good cybersecurity practices and measures that are commensurate with their cybersecurity risk profile.

“We are excited to enter into this strategic partnership with Lazada, a leading player in the e-commerce industry,” Richard Hong, CEO, TÜV SÜD ASEAN, said in a media statement. This MoU marks a significant step towards safeguarding customer data in the evolving e-commerce landscape. As a global expert in cybersecurity, we are proud to be Lazada’s trusted partner, leveraging our expertise to support their partners in ensuring robust cybersecurity practices.”

“At Lazada, we understand the vital importance of continually enhancing our cybersecurity measures to ensure that our buyers and sellers can transact safely,” according to Loh Wee Lee, CEO of Lazada Singapore. “With the partnership of TÜV SÜD through this MoU, we will continue to bolster the cybersecurity maturity of the e-commerce industry by advocating and championing the significance of the CSA Cyber Essentials and Trust mark. We look forward to introducing these marks to our key partners and supporting them in achieving this essential accreditation.”
