Advenica debuts Data Diode Engine, a proxy software for secure data transfer

Cybersecurity vendor Advenica announced its Data Diode Engine which is a stand-alone proxy software solution that enables efficient and secure data transfer through Ethernet-based data diodes. In combination with ready-to-use software services, it enables the use of case-specific network segmentation solutions for a variety of installation environments.

The Advenica Data Diode Engine enables the creation of unidirectional network segmentation solutions using application-specific services. Use cases include for example secure file transfer, secure time import, secure data extraction, and secure log export. The product can run on different types of hardware, independent from the data diode that provides the physical network segmentation. This introduces flexibility in how a solution is designed, concerning function, scalability, and cost structure.

The release of the Advenica Data Diode Engine initiates a software offering for the data diode portfolio. The portfolio will continue to expand with a growing library of data diode services and compatible hardware.

“This is an important launch for us with an innovative product where we expand our offer in data diodes,” Marie Bengtsson, CEO of Advenica, said in a media statement. “With the help of our data diodes, assets of actors in critical infrastructure and the defense industry are protected – and in this way, we contribute to Sweden’s security.”

The Data Diode Engine has been optimized for performance and secure data transfer over ether-net-based data diodes, and managing and running data diode services from Advenica. It also includes UDP and TCP services, with additional services available on request. It also runs on a standard server or PC; easy to scale installations; and uses intuitive system management and configuration tools supporting multiple installations.

The Data Diode Engine is a standalone proxy software that takes care of the conversion between bidirectional and unidirectional data flow. This ability lowers the impact on surrounding systems when integrating data diodes. It can be used with any ethernet-based (layer 2) data diode and combined with all application-specific services from Advenica, enabling the creation of unidirectional network segmentation solutions that are both scalable and cost-efficient.

The Data Diode Engine can seamlessly be designed into a new system, be an additional component in an integrated solution, or extend an existing installation of ethernet-based (layer 2) diodes with more functionality. Supported by established Linux-based operating systems, and different types of hardware – a Data Diode Engine installation can be optimized for specific system requirements.
