SecurityGate joins ISASecure as technical member, advancing OT cybersecurity

SaaS platform provider SecurityGate announced Tuesday that it has joined the ISA Security Compliance Institute (ISCI) as a technical ISASecure member. The alliance enables collaboration with other subject matter experts and helps drive the future of OT (operational technology) cybersecurity. Furthermore, Sean Haynes, SecurityGate’s chief marketing officer is set to join as chair of ISCI’s marketing committee.

As a technical ISASecure member, Houston-Texas headquartered SecurityGate will collaborate with industry leaders from peer organizations to shape the conformance program’s direction and development. The ISASecure membership further allows the SecurityGate team to update and improve Platform workflows to align with the latest ISASecure updates.

“SecurityGate offers the only complete automated workflow for ISA/IEC 62443-3-2 Risk Assessment standard, enabling Platform users to easily navigate the application of the standard for their systems under evaluation,” Taylor Petry wrote in a company blog post.

“The SecurityGate – ISASecure partnership makes complete sense as we are both aligned on the significant role critical asset owners have in learning, implementing, and eventually guiding the undoubtable expansion of the well-adopted 62443 standard series,” Ted Gutierrez, CEO of SecurityGate, said. “I’m excited to continue to see this teamwork flourish.”

Andre Ristaino, ISA Managing Director, Consortia and Conformance Programs, welcomes SecurityGate as a new ISASecure member. The ISA (International Society of Automation), founded in 1945, is a non-profit professional association that is aiming to improve the world through automation. It empowers the global automation community through standards, knowledge sharing, certification, training, and education.

“Companies like SecurityGate are instrumental in advancing the adoption of ISA/IEC 62443 standards among asset owners, service providers, and suppliers,” Ristaino said. “SecurityGate’s Platform makes it easier to conduct risk assessments, meet compliance requirements during product development and site assessments, and remove obstacles for implementing the ISA/IEC 62443 family of standards.”

Haynes, chair of the marketing committee, will be responsible for leading the development of strategies and plans that advocate for the adoption of ISASecure to secure and certify automation in critical infrastructure.

Ristaino added that was “thrilled to share that we have secured Sean Haynes as our new Marketing Chair. His exceptional marketing expertise and valuable insights will enable us to advance our global recognition as the global thought leader in securing automation and control systems.”

The ISASecure program, founded in 2007, is an ISA/IEC 62443 certification scheme with a mission to provide the highest level of assurance possible for the cybersecurity of automation control systems across industry sectors. The program was founded by thought leaders from major critical infrastructure asset owners and leading automation suppliers and has evolved into the world’s most respected and recognized automation and control systems certification brand.

The ISA/IEC 62443 standards, developed by the ISA and adopted by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), are globally recognized as the most comprehensive foundation for securing automation and control systems from design through implementation and operation.

Last month, the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) announced a memorandum of understanding with the ISA to promote cybersecurity standards and practices for operation technology (OT) and industrial control systems (ICS), especially around the ISA/IEC 62443 series of standards. The latest deal is focused on boosting policies that reference the ISA/IEC 62443 series of standards in the establishment of codes, incentives, and mandates for cybersecurity OT/ICS automation and systems.
